Since Cargo is a family owned and operated company we understand the importance of yours. Two of the company’s founders, Mr. Brown and Mr. Pope were truck drivers. Always keeping the drivers’ perspective in mind, we offer personalized dispatches to help meet the demands of family life. Our Operations Management staff has close to 100 years of combined experience and over half of our Drivers have been with the company over 3 years. Twenty percent of our Drivers have driven over 1 million miles with our company.
While at the Claremont terminal, you have access to the bunk rooms, showers, gym, steam room, laundry facilities, company cars, wi-fi, lounge with large screen TVs and convenience store style vending.
We have monthly round table meetings and luncheons as a way to keep our professional drivers informed and connected. We recognize our drivers through our Extra Mile Award Program, Years of Service Awards and Super Star Program.
At Cargo Transporters, Inc., we value all our team members and want to ensure a successful start to a career. After the recruiting process is completed, the post-offer process begins with the certification of the Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card, drug screen and road test. We then take our experienced drivers through two days of classroom training covering safety and operational expectations, as well as required paperwork. Our Student Drivers go through a comprehensive training program which starts with the classroom training.
We provide lunch during class days and breakfast on the second morning. Drinks and snacks are provided throughout orientation. Lodging is provided for those traveling long distances (speak with your recruiter for specifics and other incentives).

Driver Pay & Benefits
Cargo Transporters offers our drivers great pay, benefits and consistent miles. As the largest, privately held trucking company in western North Carolina, we offer our drivers, personalized dispatches with top-notch technology. (Effective March 30, 2014) Experienced Regional and solo OTR drivers earn up to .41 and OTR teams earn up to .2575 CPM.
We hire in North Carolina, areas in South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Florida. We have several drop yards, including our home terminal in Claremont, NC, Winston Salem, NC, Rocky Mount, NC, Martinsville, VA, and Princeton, WV. Off site parking must be approved and company policy requires that the tractor is tethered to the trailer. Please refer to our hiring area map.

Student Driver Program
Cargo Transporters has a strong Student Driver Program. With a Diploma or Certification from an approved Truck Driver Training School, we pair the Apprentice driver with a Trainer for a paid, on-the-job eight week training period.
